Attleboro, MA (September 8, 2025) – A man suffered life-threatening injuries in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 on Sunday, September 7.

The Attleboro Fire Department reported the call came shortly after 1 a.m. Crews arrived to find a debris field stretching nearly a quarter mile. Two vehicles were involved in the collision.

Firefighters discovered one male driver trapped inside his vehicle. Using hydraulic extrication tools, crews freed him and rushed him to Rhode Island Hospital. Officials confirmed that he sustained life-threatening injuries.

The second vehicle rolled over and struck a bridge support before catching fire beneath the overpass. Firefighters quickly put out the flames. The female driver had already managed to exit her car before help arrived. Paramedics transported her to Sturdy Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

Massachusetts State Police shut down I-95 until around 5 a.m. while investigators examined the scene. Crews from MassDOT inspected the bridge after the crash but found no structural damage.

The Massachusetts State Police continue to investigate the cause of this serious collision.

We extend our sincere wishes for recovery to those injured in this incident.

Highway Crashes in Massachusetts

Crashes on Massachusetts highways, such as I-95, pose serious risks to drivers and passengers. High speeds, heavy traffic, and sudden lane changes often increase the severity

of these collisions. When multiple vehicles are involved, the damage and injuries can be even greater.

Multi-vehicle crashes can happen for many reasons. Distracted driving remains one of the leading causes, as drivers split their attention between the road and their phones. Fatigue also contributes, particularly during late-night or early-morning hours when alertness is low. Speeding, following too closely, and driving under the influence are other frequent factors.

The injuries from highway accidents can be devastating. Victims may suffer broken bones, head injuries, or spinal trauma that can alter the course of their lives. Some require long-term care or face permanent disabilities. Even when physical wounds heal, emotional scars such as anxiety and post-traumatic stress can linger. The road to recovery is often long and costly.

For families, the financial toll can be overwhelming. Emergency medical bills, rehabilitation costs, and lost wages quickly add up. Insurance companies may attempt to minimize payouts, leaving victims without the resources they need to move forward.

This is where a Massachusetts car accident lawyer can provide critical support. An experienced attorney will gather evidence, consult experts, and negotiate with insurance providers on behalf of their client. They fight to secure compensation for medical treatment, lost income, and pain and suffering. Having legal guidance allows victims and families to focus on healing while knowing their rights are protected.
