Boston, MA (September 1, 2025) – A 51-year-old man was hospitalized after a pedestrian accident in downtown Boston on Monday, September 1.

At about 11:17 a.m., officers responded to State St and Broad St after reports of a pedestrian struck. First responders arrived and found the victim receiving treatment from EMS for injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Investigators said the man was eating outdoors when a car hit a barrier. The impact pushed the barrier into the victim, causing injuries.

The vehicle involved briefly stopped but fled the scene without providing information, according to police. Authorities did not immediately release a description of the vehicle or driver.

The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information to come forward.

We extend our sincere wishes for recovery to the man injured in this incident.

Pedestrian Accidents in Boston, Massachusetts

Pedestrian accidents remain a growing concern across Massachusetts cities. In busy urban areas like Boston, pedestrians face risks when drivers act carelessly. Heavy traffic, distracted

driving, and crowded sidewalks increase the chance of serious injuries.

When a pedestrian is hit, the injuries often go far beyond cuts and bruises. Victims may suffer broken bones, head trauma, back injuries, or internal bleeding. Even when injuries are not life-threatening, recovery can take months and impact everyday life. Medical bills, lost income, and emotional stress often add to the struggle.

Hit-and-run accidents, like the recent Boston case, are especially devastating. Victims are left injured and without information about the driver who caused the crash. While police work to track down suspects, victims may feel powerless. This is where an experienced pedestrian accident attorney can make a difference.

A skilled lawyer helps by investigating the crash, reviewing surveillance footage, interviewing witnesses, and working with experts to strengthen the case. Attorneys also handle insurance companies, ensuring that victims are not pressured into unfair settlements. Most importantly, they fight to secure compensation for medical treatment, lost wages, and pain and suffering.

Rhode Island law gives pedestrians important rights, but holding drivers accountable is not always simple. Having a lawyer ensures that victims have someone on their side, protecting their future and guiding them through the legal process.
