Boston, MA (September 27, 2025) – Two Boston police officers and another driver were hospitalized after a crash on Saturday, September 27, in the South End. The collision happened around 4:00 a.m. at the intersection of East Berkeley Street and Washington Street.

According to the Boston Police Department, the officers were inside a marked patrol car when it collided with another vehicle in the intersection. Both officers sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital. The civilian driver in the second vehicle was also injured and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Surveillance footage captured the moment the patrol car, with emergency lights activated, entered the intersection before the oncoming vehicle struck it. The impact pushed both cars across the road, up onto the sidewalk, and into a nearby building.

Authorities have not released the names of those injured, and no word has been given on whether charges will be filed. The Boston Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash.

Our hearts go out to the victims and their loved ones during this difficult time. We wish them a full and swift recovery.

Car Accidents in Massachusetts

Car accidents remain one of the leading causes of injury in Massachusetts, especially in cities like Boston, where traffic is heavy and intersections are busy. Thousands of collisions occur each year, and many involve serious injuries that disrupt the lives of victims and their families.

The most common factors behind Massachusetts car accidents include:

  • Distracted driving from cell phones, navigation systems, or reaching for items.

  • Speeding on crowded city streets or highways.

  • Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

  • Failure to yield at intersections and crosswalks.

Even a single moment of negligence can leave someone facing weeks of medical treatment, time away from work, and the stress of expensive bills.

The aftermath of a crash often extends far beyond the scene. Victims may struggle with physical pain, emotional trauma, and financial strain. Some injuries heal with time, while others leave permanent disabilities or require ongoing care. Families are left balancing recovery with the pressures of everyday life.

If you or a loved one sustained injuries in a car accident, you may be entitled to compensation. This can cover medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and long-term care needs. Insurance companies often try to settle quickly, but their offers rarely reflect the true cost of an accident.
