Dartmouth, MA (September 21, 2025) – Two teenagers lost their lives in a devastating crash on Saturday, September 21, in Dartmouth. According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, the collision occurred around 1:09 a.m. on I-195 near the exit for Reed Road. A Kia sedan, later confirmed stolen, struck the median and came to rest with heavy damage. The violent impact threw both occupants, a male and a female from Fall River, into the roadway. Emergency responders located them in the left travel lane. Both died at the scene.
The Massachusetts State Police shut down all westbound lanes at Exit 22 while investigators documented evidence and redirected traffic to Faunce Corner Road. The highway reopened shortly after 5:20 a.m. Authorities are reviewing whether speed or reckless driving led to the deadly crash. The investigation is ongoing.
We extend our deepest condolences to the families affected by this tragic loss.
Fatal Car Accidents in Massachusetts

Fatal crashes like the one on I-195 are heartbreaking reminders of the dangers on Massachusetts roads. High-speed highways carry heavy daily traffic, and even a brief mistake can have devastating results.
Most fatal collisions in Massachusetts stem from preventable factors, including:
Excessive speed: High speeds increase the force of impact and reduce reaction time.
Distracted driving: Cell phones and in-car devices cause drivers to miss hazards.
Impaired driving: Alcohol and drug use remain a major factor in highway fatalities.
Reckless actions: Aggressive lane changes, tailgating, and ignoring traffic rules put everyone at risk.
When these factors combine with late-night driving or stolen vehicles, the results can be catastrophic.
Families left behind face unimaginable grief along with practical challenges. They may struggle with funeral costs, lost financial support, and emotional trauma. These losses are long-lasting and deeply affect entire communities.
Under Massachusetts law, families may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim when negligence contributes to a fatal crash. Compensation can help cover medical expenses, funeral costs, lost income, and the loss of companionship. While no amount of money can undo the harm, legal action can ease financial burdens and hold reckless parties accountable.
