Devens, MA (July 21, 2025) – Thirteen people suffered injuries on Monday, July 21, after a truck crashed into a building at the Shriver Job Corps campus on Jackson Rd.

According to Devens Fire Chief Timothy Kelly, the crash happened around 10:45 a.m. The truck drove through a gate and hit the lobby of the campus building. The box section of the truck detached during the crash and slammed into the building.

Emergency crews said the truck also struck a gas main. Firefighters faced added challenges due to the gas leak while securing the scene.

Paramedics took the truck driver and six others to nearby hospitals for treatment. Four people were taken by ambulance, while Shriver Job Corps staff transported two others. Medical personnel at the campus treated six more victims at the scene. Officials have not yet released details about the severity of the injuries.

Several fire departments responded, including crews from Devens, Ayer, Shirley, Lunenburg, and Bolton. The District 8 Technical Rescue Team also arrived to stabilize the building and safely remove the truck and driver.

Helicopter footage showed the truck lodged in the building with nearby fencing damaged on the ground.

The Massachusetts State Police are leading the investigation to determine what caused the crash. We extend our sincere wishes for recovery to those injured in this incident.

Truck Accidents in Devens, Massachusetts

Truck accidents are a serious concern across Massachusetts, including in smaller towns like

Devens. While many crashes involve cars, truck accidents can cause far greater damage because of their size and weight. When a large commercial vehicle hits a building, as in this recent crash, it can lead to severe injuries and property destruction.

One of the most dangerous parts of truck crashes is the risk of catastrophic injuries. Victims may suffer from broken bones, head trauma, spinal injuries, or internal damage. Immediate medical attention is crucial, and many people face long-term recovery. In cases like this one, with multiple people hurt, emergency resources can be stretched thin, making fast medical care even more critical.

Many factors can lead to truck accidents. Drivers may be distracted, speeding, or too tired from long hours on the road. Sometimes, mechanical failures or poor vehicle maintenance contribute to crashes. In other situations, unsafe road designs or weather conditions can play a role. When a truck loses control, the outcome can be devastating, especially in busy areas like job training campuses or city centers.

After any truck accident, injury victims have the right to seek compensation. A skilled personal injury attorney can help injured people understand their legal rights and options. Compensation may include payment for hospital bills, follow-up care, missed wages, and even emotional trauma. Attorneys can also investigate if the trucking company failed to follow safety rules or maintain their vehicle properly.

If you or a loved one are ever injured in a truck crash, it is wise to speak with a Massachusetts personal injury lawyer. Having professional legal support helps ease the burden during a stressful time. Lawyers can handle insurance companies, gather evidence, and fight for fair compensation on your behalf.
