Peabody, MA (August 12, 2025) – Emergency crews responded to a serious auto-pedestrian collision on Tuesday afternoon, August 12, in Peabody involving two children on a bicycle.
The crash was reported at the intersection of Lowell Street and King Street. According to initial emergency radio traffic, a vehicle struck the two children while they were riding together. Responding units immediately requested Advanced Life Support (ALS) to expedite due to the severity of injuries.
Officials later confirmed that one of the victims, a 13-year-old, sustained an open femur fracture. The child was transported by ALS to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for urgent medical care. The condition of the second child has not yet been released.
Peabody police held the scene for a full accident reconstruction investigation. Details about the driver involved, including whether they remained at the scene or will face charges, have not yet been made public.
We wish those hurt a rapid recovery.
Bicycle and Pedestrian Accidents Involving Children in Massachusetts
Accidents involving young bicyclists are a devastating reality in Massachusetts, particularly in suburban areas where vehicle traffic intersects with residential neighborhoods. Intersections like Lowell St and King St often see steady traffic flow, and a momentary lapse in driver

attention can have life-altering consequences.
Children are especially vulnerable in bicycle-related accidents due to their smaller size and lack of protective barriers. Injuries such as fractures, head trauma, and internal damage can occur even at lower vehicle speeds.
When a driver’s negligence—such as speeding, distracted driving, or failure to yield—leads to a collision, the victims and their families may have the right to pursue compensation. Massachusetts law allows recovery for medical bills, rehabilitation costs, pain and suffering, and other losses. In cases involving minors, these claims must be carefully managed to ensure their long-term needs are met.
An experienced pedestrian accident lawyer can investigate the incident, work with accident reconstruction experts, and advocate for a settlement that truly reflects the extent of the harm caused.
