Revere, MA (June 24, 2025) – A Massachusetts State Police lieutenant was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash involving a stolen motorcycle late Monday afternoon, June 23. The incident took place just before 5 p.m. on Revere Beach Boulevard, directly in front of the State Police Revere Barracks.
According to witnesses and authorities, the lieutenant had been standing outside his cruiser when a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed struck him, throwing him approximately 45 feet. The impact left the officer in severe condition. He was immediately rushed to a hospital in Boston for emergency treatment. His name has not yet been released.
Witnesses described the moment as sudden and violent. One bystander saw the motorcycle performing a wheelie before colliding with the trooper. Another described the force of the impact and the officer’s condition as “really bad.”
Law enforcement officials said the rider fled on foot following the crash, and another dirt bike reportedly tied to the incident was abandoned at the Wonderland MBTA station. Within three hours of the crash, two suspects had been located—one arrested, and the other turned himself in.
Eighteen-year-old Akram Elmoukhtari of Revere is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Chelsea District Court. He faces charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (the motorcycle) and receiving stolen property. The second suspect’s identity has not yet been released.
We extend our deepest wishes for strength and healing to the injured trooper and his family.
Motorcycle Accidents in Massachusetts

Motorcycle-related crashes across Massachusetts continue to be a major safety concern, especially in urban and high-traffic areas. The state reports hundreds of motorcycle accidents annually, with many involving severe or fatal injuries. Riders’ speed and visibility issues often contribute to crashes, but accidents involving reckless behavior—such as stunts, unregistered vehicles, or fleeing the scene—raise the danger significantly. These cases also highlight the vulnerability of pedestrians and bystanders, including law enforcement professionals. To understand the broader dangers tied to motorcycle crashes, consider the following safety and legal challenges:
Reckless Operation: High-speed riding, wheelies, weaving through traffic, and ignoring traffic signals are behaviors commonly linked to motorcycle crashes. These actions dramatically increase the chances of losing control and causing harm to others. Victims often suffer worse injuries due to the force of impact involved.
Unlicensed or Uninsured Riders: Many serious motorcycle crashes involve riders who are either unlicensed, driving without insurance, or using stolen vehicles. This creates complications for victims trying to recover compensation for their injuries, often requiring legal support to pursue alternative claims.
Hit-and-Run Behavior: When riders flee the scene, victims may face delayed medical care and challenges identifying the responsible party. These incidents often call for detailed investigations, video surveillance review, and witness testimony to secure justice.
Injuries to Non-Motorists: Motorcycles can pose a threat to pedestrians, cyclists, and even police officers when operated dangerously. These victims are often left with catastrophic injuries, including brain trauma, broken bones, and internal damage, requiring extensive treatment and rehabilitation.
Legal Consequences for Riders: Motorcyclists involved in collisions may face serious charges, especially when others are harmed. Charges such as assault with a dangerous weapon or fleeing the scene can lead to prison time and long-term legal implications for the offender.
