Seekonk, MA (August 6, 2025) – A young woman from Providence lost her life in a tragic crash involving three vehicles on I-195 West late Sunday night.
The collision happened around 11 p.m. on Sunday, August 3, according to a press release from Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn. Emergency crews responded to multiple calls reporting a serious crash near Seekonk.
Authorities confirmed that 18-year-old Abriana Herrera Perez died at the scene. She was one of four occupants inside a black 2012 Mazda 3, which was found disabled in the right travel lane. The other three people in the Mazda—an 18-year-old woman, a 17-year-old girl, and a 17-year-old boy—were taken to Rhode Island Hospital with minor injuries.
A second vehicle, a red 2003 Toyota Tacoma, was found overturned in the median. Its driver, a 69-year-old woman, also sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
The third vehicle, a blue 2007 Yamaha XVS motorcycle, was located in the breakdown lane with serious damage. Its rider, a 33-year-old man, was transported to the hospital with injuries. His current condition is unknown.
Investigators with the Massachusetts State Police are still working to determine what caused the crash and how the vehicles collided.
We extend our heartfelt wishes for healing and recovery to all who were injured in this heartbreaking incident.
Multi-Vehicle Collisions in Massachusetts

Multi-vehicle crashes are among the most dangerous types of accidents on Massachusetts
highways. These collisions often involve high speeds, multiple points of impact, and a high chance of injury or death. Unfortunately, crashes like the one on I-195 can happen quickly and leave lasting effects on victims and their families.
Massachusetts roads, especially interstates like I-195, see a steady flow of traffic from both local and out-of-state drivers. Congestion, distracted driving, speeding, and sudden lane changes are all common causes of multi-car accidents. When motorcycles or large vehicles are involved, the risk of serious harm increases even more.
Victims of these accidents often suffer from back injuries, broken bones, head trauma, or emotional distress. Recovery can take weeks, months, or even years. In fatal cases, families are left to cope with an unexpected loss while managing funeral costs, lost income, and unanswered questions.
If someone is killed in a crash, surviving family members may be able to pursue a wrongful death claim. This type of legal action can provide compensation for medical bills, lost future income, and emotional suffering. In less severe cases, those injured may also seek damages for hospital bills, physical therapy, and pain and suffering.
A personal injury attorney can help accident victims understand their rights and guide them through every step of the process. From speaking with insurance companies to gathering witness statements and accident reports, having experienced legal help makes a real difference.
