Sharon, MA (August 22, 2025) – A crane tipped over on Friday afternoon, August 22, on the southbound side of Interstate 95 near Exit 19 in Sharon, causing major traffic delays and leaving one person injured.

The incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. when the crane overturned along the breakdown lane. Massachusetts State Police confirmed that the crane’s operator sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported for medical treatment. No other vehicles were directly involved in the incident.

Authorities temporarily closed all southbound lanes while crews worked to secure the site. As of late Friday afternoon, two lanes had reopened, though the right lane remained closed for several hours to allow for cleanup and recovery operations.

The crash caused severe traffic backups stretching from Canton to Sharon, with reports indicating that it took drivers nearly 25 minutes to travel just 6.5 miles. The timing of the incident coincided with heavy event traffic for the Morgan Wallen concert at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, which began at 5:15 p.m. Friday. A second concert is scheduled at the venue on Saturday evening.

Our thoughts are with the injured in this incident. We hope for their swift recovery.

Truck & Equipment Accidents in Massachusetts

Large vehicle and equipment accidents, such as crane and truck crashes, can be especially

ree

dangerous due to their size and weight. Even when they occur on the roadside or breakdown lane, these incidents often lead to lane closures, long delays, and serious injuries.

Operators of heavy equipment face unique risks, including rollovers, mechanical malfunctions, and stability issues. In some cases, improper maintenance, equipment failure, or unsafe operating conditions may contribute to these accidents. Victims injured in crashes involving construction vehicles or commercial equipment may face costly medical care, time away from work, and lasting physical limitations.

Massachusetts law allows those injured in these accidents to pursue compensation when negligence is a factor. This can include medical expenses, lost wages, rehabilitation costs, and damages for pain and suffering. Working with an experienced Massachusetts personal injury attorney is often the best way to protect your rights and navigate the complex claims process after a serious accident.
