Springfield, MA (July 29, 2025) – One person was hurt in a rollover crash on Monday evening, July 28, along Interstate 91 northbound in Springfield.

Massachusetts State Police responded to the scene around 6:18 p.m. near mile marker 6.4. Emergency crews found a vehicle overturned with significant damage to a nearby guardrail. The impact forced the metal rail into the travel lanes, creating a serious hazard.

The injured person was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials have not shared the extent of their injuries at this time.

Due to the crash, only one northbound lane remained open Monday night. Authorities warned that the guardrail damage was extensive and repairs may take time.

Police are still investigating the cause of the rollover and have not said if any other vehicles were involved.

We send our sincere hopes for a full recovery to the person injured in this crash.

Rollover Crashes in Springfield and Western Massachusetts

Rollover crashes, like the one on I-91 in Springfield, are some of the most dangerous collisions on the road. They often lead to serious injuries, property damage, and long recovery times. These crashes can happen in an instant—especially at highway speeds—

when a driver loses control, swerves suddenly, or strikes a roadside barrier.

In Massachusetts, rollover accidents are a growing concern. Highways such as I-91 carry heavy daily traffic, and a single mistake or hazard can lead to a vehicle flipping over. Speeding, distracted driving, and poor road conditions all play a role. In some cases, guardrail design or road layout may also contribute to rollovers.

Victims of these crashes may suffer broken bones, spinal injuries, head trauma, or internal bleeding. These injuries can require emergency care, long-term therapy, or even surgery. In addition to physical pain, victims often face lost income, high medical bills, and emotional distress.

When another driver’s negligence or unsafe road conditions cause a rollover, victims may have legal options. A personal injury attorney can help identify the cause of the crash and fight for compensation. This might include coverage for hospital bills, lost wages, rehabilitation, and pain and suffering.

An attorney will also gather critical evidence, speak to witnesses, and negotiate with insurance companies. It’s important to act quickly, as Massachusetts has strict time limits for filing personal injury claims. The sooner legal support is secured, the better the chances of a fair and complete recovery.
