Taunton, MA (July 27, 2025) – A serious three-vehicle crash in Taunton left three people injured on Thursday afternoon, including two teenagers riding a scooter. The crash happened around 1:00 p.m. on July 24 at the intersection of Cohannet Street and Silver Street.

Taunton police confirmed that the crash involved a scooter carrying two teen boys and two vehicles—a Toyota RAV4 and a Toyota Camry. The impact of the crash prompted a MedFlight response for one of the victims.

The 16-year-old boy operating the scooter was seriously hurt and flown by MedFlight to a local hospital for urgent care. A 15-year-old passenger, also from Taunton, was transported to Morton Hospital by ambulance. Police said both boys sustained injuries in the collision.

The driver of the Toyota Camry, a 51-year-old woman from Taunton, was also transported to Morton Hospital for treatment. Her injuries have not been described in detail. Meanwhile, the 81-year-old woman driving the Toyota RAV4 was not injured in the incident. Officials are still working to determine the cause of the crash, and the incident remains under investigation.

We hope all those injured in this accident recover quickly.

Scooter and Multi-Vehicle Crashes in Massachusetts

Accidents involving scooters and multiple vehicles are increasingly common in Massachusetts, especially in intersections where visibility and timing are critical. These collisions often result in significant injuries due to the lack of protection for scooter riders. It’s important to recognize the unique risks and consequences of these types of crashes:

  • Vulnerability of Scooter Riders: Scooters offer minimal protection in a crash. Even at lower speeds, riders can be thrown from the vehicle, suffering head trauma, fractures, or road rash.

  • MedFlight Use and Injury Severity: When air transport is required, it often indicates life-threatening or severe trauma. Quick transport can be critical in saving lives after high-impact crashes.

  • Mixed Vehicle Types: Collisions involving a scooter and cars can lead to complex injury patterns and liability questions. Differences in size, speed, and visibility are all contributing factors.

  • Teen Riders and Passenger Risk: Young scooter riders are especially vulnerable due to inexperience. When passengers are involved, the risk of injury nearly doubles due to balance and space limitations.

  • Intersections and Crash Timing: Busy intersections like Cohannet and Silver Streets often have limited visibility. Vehicles entering from different directions at the same time can lead to crashes if drivers or riders misjudge distances.

Anyone injured in a scooter or multi-vehicle crash should speak with a personal injury attorney as soon as possible. These cases often involve more than one at-fault party, and an attorney can help determine how to proceed.

When serious injuries are involved, early legal guidance can protect your rights and secure vital documentation. A skilled car accident attorney can help collect witness accounts, traffic footage, and medical records while you focus on healing.
