Tiverton, RI (August 30, 2025) – A woman sustained injuries after a house fire broke out Friday evening on Blaisdell Avenue in Tiverton. According to officials, the incident began shortly before 6 p.m. on August 29 when a home was rapidly overtaken by flames. Firefighters from Tiverton, along with mutual aid units from nearby towns, responded swiftly to control the blaze.
Deputy Chief Joshua Ferreira confirmed that a woman was injured in the fire and was transported to the hospital. Fortunately, she was reported to be in stable condition. Neighbors told NBC 10 that the fire spread quickly, prompting widespread concern as thick smoke filled the neighborhood.
Crews battled the fire for about an hour before bringing it under control. Despite their efforts, the home was declared a total loss. This incident remains under investigation.
We wish the injured woman a smooth and complete recovery.
Personal Injury Incidents in Rhode Island

Each year, house fires and related injuries remain a concern across Rhode Island, particularly in older residential neighborhoods where rapid fire spread is more common. Beyond the physical risks, victims are often left facing steep recovery challenges and emotional trauma.
Here are some important facts to consider about injury cases stemming from residential accidents:
Burn Injuries: These range in severity from minor to life-threatening. Victims often face long recovery periods, including surgeries and physical therapy.
Smoke Inhalation: Breathing in hot gases and toxic fumes can cause severe damage to the lungs and airways. Even without visible burns, victims may need intensive care.
Property Loss: In addition to injury, house fires frequently lead to the total loss of a home. This adds emotional and financial pressure during recovery.
Insurance Gaps: Home insurance doesn’t always cover personal injuries or temporary housing. Many victims struggle with delays or claim denials.
Emotional Recovery: Losing a home to fire can trigger anxiety, depression, and PTSD. Support services and counseling are often needed alongside physical recovery.
