Walpole, MA (July 16, 2025) – A 25-year-old man sadly died after a motorcycle crash on Monday, July 14.

The fatal collision happened just before 7 a.m. at East St and Tanglewood Rd, according to Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey.

Authorities said the motorcyclist, later identified as Spencer Reid of Franklin, crashed into an SUV. Emergency responders arrived quickly after the crash. Paramedics rushed Reid to a local hospital by ambulance.

Despite life-saving efforts, Reid passed away at the hospital from his injuries. Officials have not released the name of the SUV driver.

Investigators have not confirmed the cause of the crash. It is not clear whether speed or other factors were involved. Police are continuing to interview witnesses and review evidence from the scene.

The crash investigation remains open as officers work to determine exactly what happened.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Mr. Reid’s family and friends during this difficult time.

Motorcycle Accidents in Walpole, Massachusetts

Motorcycle accidents happen far too often on Massachusetts roads, including in towns like Walpole. Each year, motorcyclists suffer serious or even fatal injuries in crashes with other vehicles. These accidents are especially dangerous because motorcycles offer little protection from impact, making injuries more severe compared to car accidents.

Several factors often lead to motorcycle crashes. Driver inattention is one of the most common causes, where drivers of larger vehicles fail to notice motorcycles in traffic. Sudden lane changes, failure to yield, or distracted driving can cause deadly outcomes for motorcyclists. Speeding also plays a large role, whether it involves the motorcycle rider or another driver on the road.

In Walpole and throughout Norfolk County, some intersections and local streets see higher crash rates. Busy commuter roads, morning rush hours, and weekend travel increase the risk of collisions, especially at intersections like East St and Tanglewood Rd where this tragic crash occurred.

When families lose a loved one in a motorcycle crash, the emotional toll is heavy. Financial stress can also pile up with funeral costs, lost income, and medical expenses. In these cases, speaking to a Massachusetts personal injury attorney can make a difference. An attorney can investigate the crash, work with insurance companies, and help families understand their legal options. In fatal accident cases, families may have the right to pursue wrongful death claims, which can cover expenses and provide some financial relief.
