Waltham, MA (July 28, 2025) – Two people were seriously injured late Friday night, July 25, after being struck by a vehicle while riding a scooter in Waltham.

The crash occurred just before 11:00 p.m. in the area of 537 Main Street. Emergency crews rushed to the scene and found both victims with traumatic injuries. One person was in critical condition and required CPR at the scene. First responders used a LUCAS mechanical chest compression device to assist with life-saving efforts.

Waltham firefighters, Armstrong paramedics, and local police worked together to stabilize both victims before transporting them to area hospitals. As of now, their current conditions have not been released.

Due to the seriousness of the incident, the Waltham Police Department’s accident reconstruction unit is actively investigating the cause of the collision.

We extend our sincere wishes for recovery to those injured in this incident.

Scooter Accidents in Waltham

Electric scooters have become increasingly popular across Massachusetts, especially in cities like Waltham, where people use them for quick transportation on busy roads. But with

more scooters on the streets, the number of serious crashes involving them has also gone up.

Scooter riders are especially vulnerable in accidents. Unlike people in cars, they don’t have airbags or seatbelts to protect them. A collision between a car and a scooter can lead to life-threatening injuries, including head trauma, broken bones, and internal damage. Nighttime accidents, like the recent one on Main St, can be especially dangerous due to reduced visibility for both drivers and riders.

These incidents often happen when drivers fail to yield, speed through intersections, or simply don’t see scooters on the road. Poor lighting, distracted driving, or lack of bike lanes can also contribute. Even when riders wear helmets and follow traffic rules, the risk remains high when drivers aren’t paying attention.

When scooter riders are injured because of a driver’s negligence, they may have the right to seek compensation. This can help cover medical bills, hospital stays, lost wages, and pain and suffering. In many cases, insurance companies may try to downplay the severity of injuries or shift blame. That’s why working with an experienced personal injury attorney is key. A skilled lawyer will know how to protect your rights and fight for the full compensation you deserve.

After a crash like this, it’s important for injured victims and their families to act quickly. An attorney can begin investigating right away—gathering witness statements, reviewing surveillance footage, and consulting accident reconstruction experts if needed.
