Worcester, MA (September 2, 2025) – A three-car crash on Interstate 290 West left at least one person injured on Tuesday, September 2.
Emergency responders were dispatched around 2:26 p.m. to the stretch of I-290 West between exits 21 and 20. The crash involved a Jeep Wrangler and two other vehicles. Crews from Worcester Fire and EMS arrived quickly to provide aid.
Authorities confirmed at least one individual suffered injuries during the collision. Among those hurt was a seven-year-old boy who fell from a bike nearby. The child was not wearing a helmet and sustained cuts, scrapes, and a small forehead laceration. He remained conscious and alert but likely required stitches.
Other occupants involved in the highway crash also reported injuries, though the extent of those injuries has not been fully released. Medics evaluated the victims and transported them for further treatment.
Officials have not yet confirmed the cause of the multi-vehicle collision. The investigation into what led to the crash is still underway. We wish those injured in this incident a full and speedy recovery.
Car Accidents in Worcester
Car accidents continue to pose a serious safety risk for drivers, passengers, and even bystanders in Worcester. The busy I-290 corridor often sees heavy traffic, which increases the likelihood of multi-car crashes. When multiple vehicles collide, the force of impact can

create chain reactions that leave several people injured at once. These injuries can range from minor cuts to life-changing conditions that require long-term care.
The involvement of a child in the recent Worcester accident highlights another important issue—safety for young riders and pedestrians near roadways. Children are more vulnerable to injury due to their smaller size, and not wearing protective gear such as helmets increases the danger. Even minor accidents can lead to lasting consequences when children are involved.
Multi-car accidents are often caused by distracted driving, speeding, or drivers following too closely in congested areas. In some cases, weather or road conditions play a role. Regardless of the cause, the aftermath leaves families facing hospital bills, lost wages, and stress while trying to recover. Injured individuals may also deal with emotional trauma, especially children, who can be deeply affected by the shock of an accident.
For those injured in Worcester crashes, legal support can make a significant difference. A Massachusetts car accident attorney can investigate the accident, work with witnesses, and review reports to establish liability. They also help negotiate with insurance companies, who may attempt to minimize compensation. Victims may be entitled to recover medical costs, rehabilitation expenses, lost income, and damages for pain and suffering.
