East Bridgewater, MA (August 31, 2025) – Authorities in East Bridgewater were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash involving a Bridgewater Fire Department ambulance on the morning of August 29. The collision, which happened while the ambulance was en route to a local hospital, sent four people, including two paramedics, to nearby medical centers with injuries.
At approximately 9:47 a.m., police and fire officials responded to the intersection of Bedford Street (Route 18) and West Street (Route 106) following reports of a crash. According to early findings, a Bridgewater ambulance was heading north on Route 18 with its lights and siren activated, transporting a patient to Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital.
While passing through the busy intersection, the ambulance collided with a passenger vehicle. The impact left two firefighter-paramedics inside the ambulance, the patient being transported, and a passenger from the civilian vehicle all with injuries. All four individuals were transported to local hospitals by additional EMS teams.
Authorities indicated that none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening. Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
We hope everyone involved in this accident recovers quickly and fully.
Ambulance Accidents in Massachusetts

Emergency vehicle crashes in Massachusetts are more frequent than many realize. While ambulances and other responders play a critical role in public safety, accidents involving these vehicles can still occur, especially during high-speed, high-priority calls. These collisions pose unique risks to both first responders and civilians, often resulting in injuries across multiple parties.
When situations like this arise, it’s important to recognize the many elements that contribute to emergency vehicle crashes:
Intersection Risks: High-speed emergency travel through intersections, even with lights and sirens, can lead to collisions if other drivers fail to yield or if visibility is limited.
In-Transit Patients: Patients already in a vulnerable state can suffer additional trauma during transport-related crashes, complicating their medical conditions.
Responder Injuries: EMTs and paramedics may be unrestrained during transport, placing them at risk for injury in sudden-impact crashes.
Limited Reaction Time: Civilian drivers may not hear or see an approaching emergency vehicle until it’s too late to react safely.
Split-Second Judgments: Emergency drivers often face tough choices in unpredictable traffic scenarios, especially at intersections with heavy flow.
When these accidents happen, having support from a dedicated car accident attorney can make a difference in understanding what legal options are available.
